Synopsis: A village girl gets out of her comfort zone and embarks on a journey to defeat a monster that is threatening her home

Smărăndiţa is a short animation as part of my final film submission for the Character Animation MA course at University of the Arts London. The story and art style are inspired by old fairy tales and folklore of my own country. I have always been mesmerized by the magic fairy tales bring into the world and wanted to create one of my own in the form of an animated film. It has been a great learning experience and getting in tune even more culture as I have researched mythical creatures, stories and traditional wear from my country for this film. I wanted to focus on a main character that is strong and capable of doing great things, but just doesn’t know it yet. All in all it has been an amazing experience and I am looking forward to create more animations in the future!
